If you’re traveling to the Yucatan Peninsula, you’ll almost certainly want to pass through Tulum, a city known for having the only Mayan ruins rising next to the ocean. Of course you must visit them, as well as take some refreshing baths in the many cenotes that surround it. Of course, after these dips it is necessary to replenish energy and nothing better than to try some of the Mexican delicacies in the many restaurants in the city. As the offer is very large, we have prepared this post with 8 restaurants to eat in Tulum (good and cheap). Enjoy!
1. La Chiapaneca starters
It has one of the gastronomic offers cheapest in Tulum (tacos cost $8!), but economic appeal is not the only reason to come here: the food is delicious and tasty. It offers dishes as already mentioned tacos, tortas, gringas, salbutes, empanadas and quesadillas. Try the tacos al pastor and cheese empanada. We ate here our first day and we couldn’t wait to come back XD
Aiiiins, what we’d give to go back there now, without a doubt it’s one of the best places to eat in Tulum!
2. Roraima burgers
All lovers of burgers (There are many types, from classic beef and chicken to vegetarian options). Prices between $80 and $98. We tried an Italian and a Venezuelan burger and both were very tasty. As companions, you can order fried potatoes, artisan or fried yucca ($35). $20 drinks
3. Bronco chicken
ONE whole chicken, delicious, made on the grill, with tortillas, rice and salad for $140 (approx. €6.5). We ate here after a morning at the beach and cenote, and it felt good.
4.ZINE Food and movies
It is a restaurant-cinema where you can try a delicious dish while enjoying a movie. How cool is that? The menu includes several suggestions (from $350 to $490), and all dishes come with a drink and popcorn.
Update: ohhh looks like it’s closed
5. Taqueria Honorio
It is always the perfect time for rich people tacos hehe, and it seems like the best of Tulum They exist in this small place, simple and unpretentious, but they certainly know how to captivate the palates of tourists and locals alike. The taco is $16 and we recommend the suckling pig! There are also tortas and quesadillas.
6. Taste the sea
An excellent option for all those who want to enjoy fish and seafood dishes without paying more than necessary. The products are fresh, of high quality and even if you don’t fall in love with the place at first sight… it’s okay, because you eat luxury and at very honest prices (burritos for $90, tartares for $165, tacos for $40 … ).
7. Manglar Pizzeria
If, like us, you arrive in Tulum after a few weeks traveling through the Yucatan Peninsula, your palate may be in the mood for a good pizza. And in Manglar they prepare them very rich. The truth is, there are quite a few Italian restaurants in Tulum, so if you’re nostalgic for Belpaese food, it won’t be long before you stop craving it.
8. The coquette
As they would say in Mexico, it’s a “very cool” place, where it is good atmosphere and above all good food. The prices are somewhat higher than in most local restaurants, but they are still quite reasonable, you eat and drink very well for less than €10/person. Recommended ceviche!
